This is a community for works featuring the quadrant romance system from HOMESTUCK.
Short-ish explanation on the quadrants:
Quadrants in HOMESTUCK are divided in 2 ways; concupiscent (physical/sexual attraction) + conciliatory (designed to pacify) & red romance (strong positive emotions) + black romance (strong negative emotions). Each of these romances are represented by a symbol of card suit (hearts, diamonds, spades & clubs), which funtions similar to "/" or "&" for shipping purposes.
The quadrants themselves;
Matespritship or "flushed" romance (concupiscent + red) ♥ or <3
Moirallegiance or "pale" romance (conciliatory + red) ♦ or <>
Kismesissitude or "caliginous/pitch" romance (concupiscent + black) ♠ or <3<
Auspisticism or "ashen" romance (conciliatory + black) ♣ or c8<
The flushed romance is basically our understanding of romance (with a partner called a matesprit). Pale romance is described in canon as "soulmates, but more platonic" and generally is QPR coded but more specific, with the function of such being to pacify eachother (the moirail) and help eachother be better. Pitch romance is also about bettering eachother, but moreso in the way of rivalry and thanks to negative emotions instead of postive ones to the target of their affection (the kismesis). Ashen romance is unique in that in canon it's a v-relationship of sorts, with the function of the middle leaf (aka the auspistice) to pacify the conflict of the side leaves, often but not always because of unproductive pitch attraction, but always because the non-involvement could cause destruction to relationships or the people themselves.
Vaccilitation is the canon way of saying that the people in the realationship that swapping/changing in quadrant, which can be a confusing mess for the parties involved. In canon, the trolls (the species who this romance system originate from) do not differentiate by gender when it comes to relationships, the idea itself being foreign to them.
Here's the canon explanation for flushed, pitch, pale & ashen (though they lack in nuace even in the comic).
Here's the HS wiki page about them.
While this is first and formost a prompt fill com; you may post other things as long as it relates to quadrants (e.g. fic/art/podfic recs, advice, or maybe just brainstorm plotbunnies togethor). If you want to post a lot at once, I'd reconmend you post a single post with multiple cuts/links. Also crossposting is allowed if it's related to quadrants.
rules/guidelines
1. Copy and paste the table to your journal (or wherever convenient to you) and start filling in the prompts by linking to your fills (if you want).
2. Once you made your fill, you can post it either in the community or on your journal and link it back to the community.
3. Original works are allowed alongside any fandom you want to write for.
4. You don't have to keep the flushed, pale or pitch quadrant as monogamous, & you don't have to keep the ashen quadrant to 3. But fill do have to be unique pairings/groupings of characters (so while you may for example write 11+ fics with Karkat, you can't write more then 1 fill for Karkat <> Gamzee)
(Note: a/b/c & a/b/d will be seen as unique groupings).
5. If the fill has strong vacillitation; please tag with either the strongest quadrant of the fill, or use 2 prompts (though please keep the latter to a minimum)
6. All mediums are welcome. But it can't be AI-generated & written works need to be at least a 100 words (note: works do not need to be in English).
7. You may use fills from this challenge to fill other challenges.
8. If the medium or fandom tag doesn't exist yet, please add in the post what you need added so that the moderator can add it.
